With her feminine designs and provocative glamour designer Nika Zupanc loves to be a rebel in the modern design world. In an interview with Deutsche Welle she said, when she discovered that female elements are tabu in a male design world, she decided to use them in her work. Needless to say, I have a big heart for rebels, don’t you?
For the Salone 2014 London-based luxury furniture brand Sé unveiled its new Collection III designed by Nika Zupanc at Spazio Rossana Orlandi.
Based in London, Sé is the brainchild of Pavlo Schtakleff, whose vision is to marry the best designers with the finest makers in Europe, and to create design that is both sumptuous and technically peerless. The first two collaborations were done with Jaime Hayon and Damien Langlois-Meurinne.
Nika Zupanc’s Design was inspired by the forms and shapes of the 1950s as well as motifs from sports. For example the mirrors are covered by stylized laurel wreath. The table top of the Olympia Vanity Table recalls the Olympic rings, the glass doors of the cabinet resemble the mesh of a tennis racket.
