Into the Green – by Vitra

Green is really a nice colour. As everybody else I love to enjoy it in so many shades while being in nature. It is one of the additive primary colors. A lot of people like green in their houses too and of course there is lots of fantastic work with greens in interior styling and design.

And furthermore it is even the colour of the year 2013 – as we know from Pantone’s emerald. Well? You may hear the big BUT already coming? Mhh, let’s say somehow green and I do not have the strongest relationship. No need to mention that I am not embracing a green thumb as well. Countless plants which have come and gone into our house are a sad, but proven track record.

So taken all this into account, it was kind of a miracle what happened to me while attending the woonbeurs fair in Amsterdam last week. As I entered the booth of Vitra, seeing all the walls and the floor covered in this special shade of green – I actually really liked it.

They combined it with black accessoires (clocks from George Nelson, Hang it all from R&E Eames) and a more yellowish green or greenish yellow tone (Prouvé Chair, Bouroullec Brothers), which gave the setting a special twist. And then I could even hear myself kindly asking the lovely lady from the vitra booth for giving me the name of the colour hue in use*.

I do not know how they do this brainwashing, but it works. I even think of painting a room in green. Ok, for now – maybe kind of a soft start with our guest room. So. My honneurs to Vitra, there are not only the home for a couple of iconic designers from the 20th century, they also do a great job in translating trends into a perfect mix and match. Well done.
